New Found Glory Bio
New Found Glory Enjoys the Glory of Rock Music Fame
Initially called A New Found Glory, Jordan Pundik (vocalist), Ian Grushka (bassist), Cyrus Bolooki (drummer), Chad Gilbert (guitarist), and Steve Klein (guitarist) established themselves as one of the most famous pop-punk band during the late 90s and early 2000.
The band originated from Coral Springs, Florida and was formed in 1997. When the group first got together, Bolooki, was not yet on board. He only replaced Joe Moreno after the release of their first album.
With their love for music, the group went from high school graduation straight into the pop-punk music scene.
Pundik and Klein first got together and started writing music in 1997. They later hooked up with Grushka, Moreno, and Gilbert, who used to be the singer of Shai Hulud.
The band released their debut EP under Fiddler Records in 1997. The EP, It’s All About the Girls, became a hot item when the band went on tour on the East Coast during the late 90s.
As soon as recording for the EP was finished, Moreno left the group and was replaced by Bolooki. They then moved on to a new label, Eulogy Records.
Nothing Gold Can Stay was the group’s full-length debut release in 1999. Aside from releasing Nothing Gold Can Stay, the band also went on tour. A New Found Glory was rocking. They had a rigorous touring schedule that paved the way for people to get to know the band. With the help of the tour, the band was able to form a huge following. Eventually, the group decided to drop the “A” in their name for fans to remember their name easily.
By the start of the new millennium, New Found Glory music was developing huge fan base, which caught the attention of executives at Drive-Thru Records, an independent record label/. They signed the group to a deal; and in 2000, the band released From the Screen to Your Stereo, an EP of cover songs.
The success of this album was followed by the release of their self-titled album later that year. The album did very well commercially and turned gold. The quintet was on a roll. They went on tour with Blink 182 and opened the Warped Tour. They also appeared on a teen-comedy flick, American Pie 2, which only added to their growing fan base and success.
The band went back to the studio at the end of 2001 to work on their follow-up record. In 2002, this time under MCA Records, NFG released their third studio album called Sticks and Stones. The album’s hit single My Friends Over You ensured the band a front liner spot in the 2002 Warped Tour. Their album also worked its way up to a gold status.
They had an appearance at the Honda Civic Tour together with other bands like Good Charlotte and Simple Plan.
Their fourth album, Catalyst, was released in May 2004 and landed at the number three spot in the Billboard album chart. It sold more than a hundred thousand copies in its first week of release. A tour was also in line for the album.
After going on tour, the band decided to take a long break before going back to the studio to record their upcoming album titled Coming Home. Gilbert revealed to MTV.com details of the upcoming album. On September 18, 2007, the band released the follow-up to From the Screen to Your Stereo—From the Screen to Your Stereo Part II.
Compared to the first EP, From the Screen to Your Stereo is a full-length album that has 11 tracks plus one bonus song.
Since then, the band has releases a few more albums between 2008 and 2009. One was even produced by Blink 182 member, Mark Hoppus.
