New Found Glory Music
Pop-punk band New Found Glory has amasses a huge fan base and success during decade-long career. When they started the band back in 1997, they were still sporting the name A New Found Glory, which they later changed to just New Found Glory. The dropping of the article A would be more effective in making people remember the band’s name.
The band’s members are: Jordan Pundik (vocalist), Ian Grushka (bassist), Cyrus Bolooki (drummer), Chad Gilbert (guitarist), and Steve Klein (guitarist). Bolooki was not one of the original band members. He replaced Joe Moreno after the band released their first EP.
New Found Glory is on the pop-punk sound. It’s a combination of alternative rock and power pop melodies. Their music has powerful chord changes and speedy tempos, not to mention the loud guitars which make rock songs appealing.
The band released their first EP in 1997. Titled It’s All About the Girls, this record released under Fiddler Records, it paved the way for the band to be signed up by Eulogy Records.
New Found Glory went on tour following the release of their full-length debut called Nothing Gold Can Stay. It was the album that caught the attention of fans and other record labels. Because of the fan base the band has acquired while touring for Nothing Gold Can Stay, Drive-Thru Records, an independent label, took interest in the band and signed them up. Under it, the band released an EP of cover songs called From the Screen to Your Stereo.
At that time, Drive-Thru Records was under the major label, MCA. Because of the band’s growing success in the music scene, MCA decided to sign the band and release their third studio album called Sticks and Stones in 2002.
NFG found themselves together with Good Charlotte and Simple Plan on the Honda Civic Tour in 2004. After that, they went on to work on their next album and released Catalyst in May. It was received very well as it debuted at the number 3 spot in the Billboard album chart.
Fans of the band will notice the difference in the sound of this new album—heavier. This, according to guitarist Gilbert, is because of the constant comparisons with other pop bands like Good Charlotte. He said they take offense at the fact that people see them as a pop band when they clearly weren’t.
Just like other bands who get their songs featured in different media, NFG’s This Disaster song was featured in EA Sports’ Madden 2005, while At Least I’m Known For Something was featured in Burnout 3: Takedown.
The band went on tour for Catalyst and then started work on their next album. Coming Home was slated for release on September 19, 2006, with its first single, It’s Not Your Fault, to be released early in July. They then released From the Screen to Your Stereo Part II—the follow-up to From the Screen to Your Stereo—on September 18, 2007. It contains 11 songs plus one bonus track.
Previously unreleased songs Situations and Constant Static were given a shot at musical stardom when they were included in the compilation album Hits in March 2008. The following month, the band was featured on the released Punk Goes Crunk, a compilation of covers from the Punk Goes…series. It featured their take on the song Tennessee, originally done by Arrested Development.
The band also released a 6-track EP, Tip of the Iceberg, that same month which features new songs and covers of hardcore punk songs. This EP reflects their musical influences. It remains to be the band’s ultimate display of their hardcore melodic abilities, as well as their more classic rock style.
The sixth studio album, Not Without A Fight, was released on March 10, 2009. The record was produced by Blink 182 member, Mark Hoppus, who noted of the band’s renewed enthusiasm to music. The lead single, Listen to Your Friends, was released in the US and UK both in iTunes and AmazonMP3.
